All about Kelsey!

Braden seems to get way more face time on my blog than Kelsey does. But only because he's at the cute toddler stage where he does something silly every day. Kelsey is 9 now and much more grounded than her brother. But if I'd had a blog when she was little, you can bet I'd have been posting just as many silly stories about her as I do about Braden. To prove it, here are just a few of her being silly as a toddler before I get to the real point of this post!
Of course when she was about 2, her dad taught her to do the "loser" sign, which became her favorite thing to do.

This... well... I don't know.... she was just silly!

Here she was with Lizzie, who was scared of the vacuum and this is what she did when I got out the vacuum.

As you can see the "silliness" of my daughter is still intact! Actually, this is from "crazy hair day" at school and a friend did her hair. I missed it, I was already down at the property (see previous post) but luckily a friend got a picture for me.

Anyway, the entire point of this post, is about Kelsey and how proud I am of her. She's in 4th grade and has always had excellent conferences. All her teachers have had good things to say about her and this time was no different! She has excellent grades and acts as a leader to her peers, encouraging them to do better on their assignments. He also said he felt she was destined for student government. This surprised me more than anything because I was never a leader and didn't even consider running for any student government positions. She is awesome at math, which we can thank her dad for. So even though we aren't perfect parents, it seems she's turning out alright! Hopefully we can do as well with Braden, although with his activity level... it remains to be seen how he will behave when he gets there.

Ladies Weekend

This past weekend we had a Girls Weekend at our family property on the Cowlitz River. It was a ton of fun with great company and lots of laughs. My mother in law and I went down a day early to make sure everything was ready. Going down without men was definitely an experience... we had to pretend we knew what we were doing and get everything hooked up, propane, water, fire, etc. It took us awhile but we were able to do it all by ourselves!

Friday we worked our butts off. Emptied the truck of a load of wood, stacked it and even chopped some. Lets just say, I'm glad my husband wasn't there to see my pathetic attempts at splitting wood! But, in the end, I had a nice stack to keep us going through the weekend. Also a very sore back and shoulders which made me long for my jacuzzi tub back at home. We also cleaned debris off the lot with the blower and burned branches.... after we got a fire started in the extremely soggy fire pit.

After the girls showed up friday night the fun began! We had some drinks....

Played some board games...

Sat around the fire and told stories of when our husbands have been drunk...
Saturday was even more fun! I think my abs got a workout just from laughter. We headed up to the lodge and played foosball, ping pong and air hockey. All with bloody mary's in our hands. Valerie was the queen of the foosball table, while I kicked butt at the air hockey table. Because it's off season, there was really no one else around and we were able to be as goofy as we wanted.

Overall it was an excellent weekend and I'm very glad we went down. It was a much needed weekend of fun and relaxation. I definitely think it will become an annual trip, at the very least! We might have to do it more often.
